Qualitative Research

Services

Whether you need to design a short survey, improve employee morale, or conduct a large-scale research project, I’ll work with you to create a research design and budget that works for you. Learn more about my methods below!

MY METHODS

Participant Observation

A method based on living and/or working alongside the members of a community. Particularly useful to organizations wishing to better understand their organizational culture, what’s working, and what’s not.

Interviews

I specialize in semi-structured interviews, meaning that I am guided by a core set of questions or objectives, but that I also allow the conversation to flow naturally. This method allows me to discover edge cases that a strictly structure survey could not.

Focus Groups

Focus groups are essentially just mass semi-structured interviews. The difference is: people sometimes express different opinions depending on their audience. This method is ideal for understanding the important relationship between individual opinions and external pressures.

Surveys

Data are only as good as the instrument used to collect them. One person’s “objective” question might not be “objective” to another. My survey design combines cultural competence, accessibility, and rigorous α and β testing to ensure accuracy.

Academic Research

With years of experience with both archival and digital research and an active academic publishing career, I understand the importance of thorough, rigorous, and up-to-date research in executing any project successfully.
