Teaching and Learning

MY METHOD

As an experienced educator, curriculum designer, and anthropologist, I know what it takes to design educational and training content that keeps learners engaged and also meets everyone’s needs.

I have designed and taught curricula in high schools universities, as well as more non-traditional ones. I’ve designed ESL curricula for migrants workers that had to be taught outdoors, Know Your Rights trainings for immigration detainees and aid workers, and self-led online courses in the humanities, decision making, and leadership.

Drawing on my experience and training as an anthropologist, I view learners as both individual and members of a community of learners. My method focuses on three central questions:

  • What is the culture of the community of learners?
  • What structural conditions may impede or aid success?
  • What does the community already know?

We all learn better when are needs are understood and met, and when new information builds on our previous knowledge.

Drawing on the latest pedagogical research, I deliver culturally relevant, flexible curricula for learners at every level.
